I, also, love forest and mountains. I lived, for 8 years, in 100 acres of forest in the Arkansas mountains with no nearby neighbors. It was the most wonderful time of personal growth for me. It isn't scary at night. It is incredibly quiet and peaceful. I miss it.
I have spent much time camping and canoeing rivers and such. The only time I was really scared was camping on a mountain top with cows nearby. I was afraid they were going to step on me.
